Each Psychiatrist working at Empowered Minds Clinic set their own inclusion and exclusion criteria.
What we offer
Telehealth
With our convenient telehealth services, you have the flexibility to connect with a highly-trained consultant psychiatrist right from where you feel most comfortable and at ease, ensuring a private and personalised experience tailored to your needs.
Australia-Wide Care
Referrals are accepted from both rural and urban areas throughout Australia. We can accept referrals from every state in Australia; however, for those seeking assessment and treatment of ADHD, prescriptions for stimulant medication can only be provided for residents of NSW, QLD, WA, SA, VIC and ACT, due to state-specific regulations at this time.
Who We Treat
We see children, teens, and adults of all ages. Our services cater to a wide range of individuals, ensuring that everyone receives the support they need at Empowered Minds Clinic.
Communication with Your GP
We provide frequent assessment and treatment summaries to your GP.
We aim to support the transfer of care back to your General Practitioner when appropriate, with the opportunity for re‑referral and future reviews if you should require them.
What we are unable to offer
Where we may not be able to help
We’re here to help you find the right fit, even if it’s not with us. In the rare instance that we decline a referral, we will endeavour to make recommendations of how to find appropriate support. If you cannot find effective help elsewhere, or have been unable to so far, please let us know.
Acute Care Services
We cannot offer acute care services. We understand that those with mental disorders are at higher risk of developing suicidal ideation or acting on such thoughts and we will always provide support and recommendations for existing patients in session should such concerns arise. However, as a small, telehealth only service we do not have the capacity to offer calls or appointments at short notice. We recommend that those with high-risk and complex needs seek treatment from a higher-resourced service in their local vicinity, please see your General Practitioner for recommendations.
Bulk Billing Services
We are a private clinic and do not offer bulk billing services, appointments are subsidised by Medicare where appropriate. We do not accept CTP, work cover or medico-legal referrals.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs
We are unable to provide services for patients funded by DVA. We can provide support to these patients who are happy to pay for the services privately or for patients who are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate.
Face to Face Appointments
State-Specific Regulations
We cannot provide prescriptions for stimulant medications for residents of NT and Tasmania.
WorkCover or other health funds
We are happy to provide assessment and treatment for patients eligible for WorkCover or patients who intend to use another health fund; however, we do not claim directly with any funder other than Medicare.
You can use your paid tax invoice receipt to seek reimbursement from your funder directly.
Our Services
Our services
At Empowered Minds Clinic, we make mental health care accessible, supportive, and tailored to you—wherever you are in Australia. Our experienced psychiatrists provide comprehensive assessments and treatment for a range of conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders and PTSD.
All consultations are delivered via secure telehealth, so you can receive expert care from the comfort of your own space; whether you’re in the city or a rural community. We work closely with your GP to ensure continuity of care and create treatment plans that fit your needs and lifestyle.
Initial Assessments
Your first appointment is more than just a review of your referral; it’s a detailed, holistic assessment designed to give us the full picture of your mental health. We explore your current concerns alongside your history, lifestyle, and wellbeing to ensure nothing is overlooked. This approach helps us identify any co-occurring conditions or alternative explanations for symptoms, so we can create a treatment plan that truly fits your needs. All assessments are conducted via secure telehealth, making expert care accessible wherever you are in Australia.
Medication Management
Managing medication is about more than writing a prescription; it’s about ensuring your treatment is safe, effective, and tailored to you. Our psychiatrists provide expert prescribing and ongoing monitoring, adjusting your plan as needed to support your wellbeing. We also work closely with your GP to keep your care coordinated and consistent, so you feel supported every step of the way.
Once your treatment is stable and you’ve reached an effective dose with minimal side effects, we can help transition your care back to your GP if that’s your preference. This ensures continuity while giving you the flexibility to manage your ongoing treatment in a way that works best for you.
Ongoing Care
Your mental health journey doesn’t end after the first few appointments. We provide regular follow-up consultations to review your progress, make adjustments to your treatment, and ensure you feel supported over time. The frequency of these appointments is tailored to your needs; whether you require closer monitoring at the start or prefer less frequent check-ins once things are stable. Our goal is to keep your care responsive and adaptable, so you can move forward with confidence and stability.
ADHD Assessments
Our ADHD assessments are designed to give you clarity and confidence. We look beyond surface symptoms to understand attention, focus, and related challenges in the context of your overall wellbeing. This comprehensive approach helps us identify ADHD and any co-occurring conditions that may influence your care.
The process typically involves two appointments, allowing time for a thorough evaluation and discussion of your results before considering treatment options. While medication may be recommended, starting a trial depends on your individual needs and the psychiatrist’s clinical judgment – some cases require additional steps to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate.
