Our Fees

We understand that healthcare can be expensive. We are dedicated to providing our patients with the highest possible level of care. All psychiatrists delivering services via Empowered Minds Clinic are engaged as independent contractors. As such, the fees charged to our clients are determined based on their expertise, time, and the operational expenses of our practice.

Billing is structured according to the duration of appointments, with longer sessions incurring higher charges. We do not offer bulk billing services, resulting in out-of-pocket costs for our patients. Most patients are eligible for Medicare rebates which will be issued after your appointment and directed into your nominated account.

We recommend that you read about the annual Medicare Safety Net threshold and register for this if this is applicable to you. Once you or your family have reached this threshold, Medicare rebates will be higher which means there are less out of pocket costs to you. Please note that most private health insurers do not cover outpatient psychiatry appointments.

In order to maintain transparency with our clients, our fees are outlined below. Please take note of each individual Psychiatrist’s fees.

Dr William Ackers

Dr Ackers is not currently accepting new patients.

This assessment type is for patients who are new to our clinic seeking a one-off assessment only. Treatment management is carried out by the referring practitioner.

Other Health Funds

i.e. WorkCover and Private Health Funds

We are happy to provide assessment and treatment however we do not claim directly with any funder other than Medicare.

Payment will be processed 3 days prior to your appointment from the credit card details you provided when you booked an appointment. You can use your receipt to seek reimbursement from your funder directly.

You can also ask your funder is they are happy to transfer the funds directly via BSB and Account number prior to the appointment date to avoid any fees processed from your card.

PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to provide services for patients funded by DVA. We can provide support to these patients who are happy to pay for the services privately or for patients who are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate.

    Please note, all fees are processed 3 days prior to your scheduled appointment. Medicare rebates are reflective of the duration of time that you are present in the appointment. Therefore, if you arrive late, a lower medicare rebate might apply. *Medicare review and update their fees and rebates regularly. Please check with medicare for the most up to date information.
  

Cancellation and Late Arrival Policy

Cancellations with at least 2 business days' notice will not be charged for the appointment. Cancellations 48 hours to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment will incur a 50% fee. Less than 1 days' notice (24 hours or less before your scheduled appointment) will be payable for the full fee. For appointments cancelled 48 business hours prior to the scheduled appointment, the fee will be processed on the day you would have attended your appointment.

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may be unable to accommodate the appointment due to time constraints. In such cases, it will be considered a "no-show," and no refund or Medicare rebate will apply.

You can cancel your appointment online through your Halaxy patient portal or by following the link sent to you in your appointment confirmation email. If you need to cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, please contact our reception team on 07 2113 9116 to ensure that the allotted time can be offered to someone else in need.

Referrals

In order to meet with a psychiatrist at Empowered Minds Clinic you must provide a current referral from your General Practitioner or other specialist. Please ensure that the details on your referral is correct, including your identity and contact information. Please send a copy of your referral to referrals@empoweredmindsclinic.com. Our admin team will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Please be aware that referrals do not stay valid indefinitely. Referrals from General Practitioners remain valid for 12 months whilst referrals from specialists expire after 3 months. Please ensure that your referral will be up to date and valid at the time of your scheduled appointment. Without a valid referral you are unable to claim a Medicare rebate.
